Jordan Quitline — Ministry of Health smoking-cessation helpline

About this quitline

Jordan does not run a 24/7 toll-free quitline like the United States, but support to stop smoking is part of the public health system. The Ministry of Health, working with the World Health Organization, set up a national smoking-cessation helpline on 06 500 4546. The line gives information about cessation services and is answered by Ministry of Health doctors trained by WHO. From there, smokers can be directed to the ministry's free cessation clinics, where counselling and medication are provided at no charge through primary health care. The King Hussein Cancer Center also runs a cessation clinic open to anyone, not only cancer patients. Note that 06 is the Amman area code, so the call is charged at normal rates.
