Quit Smoking Helpline in Fiji

About this quitline

Fiji does not run a national telephone quitline, but free help to stop smoking is available through the public health system. The Ministry of Health & Medical Services (MOHMS) has set up tobacco cessation hubs in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa, where you can get face-to-face behavioural counselling and, if you need it, nicotine replacement therapy to make quitting easier. The MOHMS quit-smoking page explains how to plan a quit attempt and invites people to email its tobacco unit at tobaccofreefiji@yahoo.com to ask for help. The cessation hubs were expanded with support from the World Health Organization and funding from the Government of New Zealand, building on earlier work by the Fiji Cancer Society and the Hope Clinic. Tobacco kills more than 1,200 Fijians every year, so getting support to quit matters.
