New Zealand Quitline — Quitline (Me Mutu) 0800 778 778

About this quitline

New Zealand has one national stop-smoking service: Quitline, also known by its Māori name Me Mutu. You can call 0800 778 778 free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or text 4006 to get started. Quitline is run by Whakarongorau Aotearoa (New Zealand Telehealth Services) and funded through the public health system, so the support costs nothing. A trained quit coach helps you understand your addiction and build a personalised plan, and you can also get help by webchat or through an online programme at quit.org.nz. To deal with the physical side of quitting, Quitline can arrange subsidised nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) — patches, gum or lozenges — and offers tailored support for Māori, Pacific peoples and people who are pregnant.
