View detailsIn Mexico, free help to quit smoking is available through the Línea de la Vida, the national telephone line for mental health and addictions reachable at 800 911 2000. It is run by the Secretaría de Salud (through CONASAMA, the body that works alongside CONADIC, the Comisión Nacional contra las Adicciones) and is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Specialists provide information and brief interventions, including support for people who want to stop smoking, and can refer callers to local services. In-person treatment is offered free of charge at the network of Centros de Atención Primaria en Adicciones (UNEME-CAPA), and specialised clinics such as the one at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias (INER) provide comprehensive cessation care.
