Ecuador Quitline — Línea 171 del MSP

About this quitline

Ecuador does not run a single dedicated quitline, but free help to stop smoking is available through 171, the toll-free line of the Ministerio de Salud Pública (MSP). The MSP's own "Tips para dejar de fumar" page points smokers to "la línea 171 opción 2" for free telephone counselling on how to quit. The same line, run with the state telecom CNT, also schedules appointments in general medicine, dentistry, obstetrics and psychology at public health centres, and offers health-promotion guidance. Calls are free from a landline or mobile, and the call centre operates Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 7:00 to 20:00. Beyond the phone, primary-care teams at MSP health units provide in-person cessation support as part of the "Ecuador sin tabaco" programme.
