View detailsIceland offers a free, confidential telephone counselling line for people who want to stop smoking, known as Ráðgjöf í reykbindindi (smoking-cessation counselling). The number is 800 6030, a toll-free "green" line answered by counsellors who can talk through your plan, suggest practical steps and arrange follow-up. The service is connected to the Heilsuvera health portal, run by the Directorate of Health (Embætti landlæknis) together with Capital Region primary care, which publishes online guides on quitting, nicotine cravings, relapse and stop-smoking medication. The number is well known in Iceland because it appears on cigarette packs alongside the message "Get help with quitting." Your local health centre (heilsugæsla) can also provide cessation support.
