View detailsNorway no longer runs a national telephone quitline. Røyketelefonen, the long-running helpline at the Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet), was shut down in 2017 as digital tools took over. The free help that exists today centres on the Slutta app, a free service from Helsedirektoratet that tracks your smoke-free days, money saved and improving health, and works for cigarettes, snus and vaping. Practical advice is published on the public health portal helsenorge.no. Your regular GP, the fastlege, can give advice, prescribe medication and refer you to a municipal healthy life centre (frisklivssentral) for individual coaching or group courses. Pharmacies sell nicotine-replacement products over the counter, and combining medication with personal support gives the best results.
